My Approach to Self-Discovery

Thierry Geschals, Direct Perception® Trainer

I developed the Direct Perception® method , an approach that allows you to instantly understand the nature of the problem of self-esteem and self-confidence. It is from this understanding that right action and change can emerge.

It is a unique approach developed after twenty years of studying psychology, psychoanalysis, and personal development, focusing on the mechanisms of thought and the ego. It then became clear to me that the quality of perception of phenomena was a key factor in bringing about profound change within oneself.

Understanding the assimilation process behind transformation will allow your clients and patients to quickly find answers related to the lack of self-confidence.

My story

Don't go where the path leads you. But rather, go where there is no path and leave a trail.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Passionate about psychology and a keen observer of human nature since I was born, I am particularly fascinated by the emotional and relational state of the individual. A former business leader specializing in communications, I worked with top executives in New York for a decade before moving to France.

As an essayist and passionate skipper, I embarked on a family sailing trip across the Atlantic in 2021 to restore meaning to a daily life that had become routine. Over the days, this adventure transformed into an inner journey that allowed me to discover that it is possible to understand one's emotions, fears, doubts, conflicts, traumas, and moods, and to simply overcome them.

As an iconoclast, I reject dogmas, labels, and images because they divide and do not allow us to better understand what we are: this amalgam of memories and wounds accumulated over time. What interests me above all is to delve into the depths of being, with all its contradictions, conflicts, and illusions.

Psycho-emotional trainer and coach specializing in "Self-esteem", author of the " Direct Perception® " method and "The Tyranny of Emotions".

My Mission

To inspire the next generation of coaches, wellness practitioners and therapists through the power of experience and one's own inner transformation.

For this reason, teaching is the most beautiful of professions, and the one that makes the most sense, in a world where individuals have never been so confronted with doubt and psychological insecurity.

This is why it is of primary importance to understand how the ego works and how only self-esteem allows us to find confidence and inner security that do not depend on external phenomena.

My unique Direct Perception® method was developed after more than twenty years of research into the psychological mechanisms of the ego, relationships with others, teaching methods, and the assimilation process.

Direct Perception: A Unique Coaching Approach

In our quest for personal growth, we often analyze situations through the prism of our past experiences and acquired knowledge.

This creates certainties and beliefs that distance us from truly understanding our existence. The key to transforming a problem lies in the quality of attention in the present moment, an approach many of us neglect due to our tendency to constantly want to envision the future rather than the here and now.

What exactly is Direct Perception®?

There are two kinds of understanding: one is theoretical while the other is instantaneous.

Intellectual understanding means there is no real understanding, only the pleasure of accumulating ideas. No profound change is possible within the illusion of knowledge. Factual understanding involves perceiving the nature of a problem directly and deeply.

Direct Perception® is an immediate understanding of our reality based on sensations. These sensations are sufficient to create a complete representation of the world around us, without the need for thought processes based on interpretation, justification, and condemnation. It does not require the use of knowledge from the past and memory. Sensory data is rich and sufficient to provide an accurate judgment of the present moment. Thus, what we perceive without the intervention of thought or the self allows us to make a precise observation that naturally invites the right action.
